How A Remote Starter Works

Posted on: 4 December 2018

A remoter starter can be really useful. A remote starter allows you to start your vehicle when you are inside your home or when you are approaching your vehicle. If your vehicle doesn't have a remote starter on it already, you can have a remote starter at a later date.

#1 Remote Starters Work With Automatic & Manual Transmissions

It doesn't matter if you have an automatic vehicle or a manual vehicle, you can have a remote starter installed in your vehicle. Remote starters work on both automatic and manual transmissions. It may cost a little extra to install a remote starter on a manual transmission, but with the right training, it can be done safely.

#2 Remote Starters Work With Diesel Engines

It doesn't matter what type of engine you have. If you have a diesel engine, you can have a remote starter added to your vehicle. If you have a diesel engine, you will have to install a different type of remote starter, but it is still possible to have a remote starter installed on a diesel engine.

#3 Remote Starters Work With Chip Vehicles

Many modern vehicles are activated by a chip. If your vehicle starts via a chip, a bypass module is installed. The bypass module for the chip is only activated and used when you use your remote starter. When a remote starter is properly installed, your anti-theft system will still be fully activated and functional.

#4 Remote Starters Work With a Push Button

Many modern vehicles are also activated with a push button. A push button does not prevent you from having a remote starter installed on your vehicle. Installing a remote starter in a vehicle with a push button requires certain modifications, but it does work.

#5 Remote Starters Keep Your Car Locked

When you use a remote starter on your vehicle, it doesn't unlock your vehicle. A remote starter just starts your vehicle. Your steering wheel and shifter also stays locked. Your vehicle stays locked until you unlock it with your car keys. You also can't drive away without putting a key in your ignition. A remote starter warms up your vehicle; it doesn't unlock your vehicle, and it doesn't allow someone to drive away with your vehicle.

A remote starter can be installed in a vehicle with an automatic transmission, a manual transmission, a diesel engine, a chipped vehicle, and even a push button. Always have a professional install a remote starter on your vehicle to ensure that it is properly installed.
